That seemed to be , because as a child , tins were the order of the day and still in many places camp shops sell only convenience foods nowadays .This book shows , however, that this need not be the case. Not only does it include excellent recipes - all of which are one pot recipes - but there is extremely helpful advice about what to take with you , how to store it - , what to drink with the food . The benefits of a hardy little stove with a grill rather than just a one pan only primer stove are all clearly set out and even how to make a barbecue from a washing machine drum .The recipes although generally simple are very much Mediterranean influenced but also are not entirely summery so they include recipes very suitable for those days when camping on a cold night or when it has been raining and the kids are bored with being in a tent !This is not , however, a book that will only appeal to the glampers who get Ocado to deliver their groceries to the camp site - it is very practical , uses few luxury ingredients ,recognises the limitations when you are camping and the demands on your time when camping with your children in particular .Moreover, it is not just a book for camping - the recipes will all work just as well in your kitchen .An excellent book , charmingly written and very down to earth - strongly recommended ! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Posh grub! *by R***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 August 2013* I think my camping cooking box will have to have a revamp! The recipes in this book are wide and varied. From really simple 'breakfasts'/snacks to hour long cooking stews. Beautifully written with short tales as to the origin of the recipe and possible options and some fantastic photography.Josh is obviously a massive foodie - you'd have to be to have a bunch of asparagus tattooed on your arm!!I'm going to select a couple of recipes to try and make sure I've got the ingredients with me to get me going. I'm not a hardened camper but do really enjoy it. As I get more experienced my camp cook box will hopefully get stocked more appropriately.Worth buying as like many said in their reviews - what's to stop you trying the recipes out at home first.
