Review: Who'd have thought these could be so good for the price? - I've been a fan of Apple kit for a long time, and already own a pair of Airpod Pros. But I wanted a cheap and cheerful set of wired earbuds for daily use for a variety of different things. As the battery life isn't great on wireless airpods, it's always handy to have a wired backup (and it's also far easier to get these plugged in and working quickly if you need to answer Teams calls when working from home). A lot of folk don't like Apple, and would probably rather pay through the nose for another make, but I've been through several sets of headphones and earbuds over the last year or two, and so far these are by far the best wired pair of earbuds I've ever bought. First up, these come nicely packaged in the usual slick apple packaging. You might feel like you'll need a degree in mechanical engineering just to open the box but it's fairly easy, just pull the little green tab on the plastic, slide the box open and peel the inside containment apart carefully - that way you'll also have a handy case to wrap these back in for storage purposes. The Earpods come with inline volume control and microphone for phone use if your phone has a triple band 3.5mm connector (most modern phones do), which means this is perfect for hearing and making calls. I use these for watching various streaming TV services, and the sound quality is almost unbelievably good, perfect for both dialogue and music in movies and shows with a surprisingly rich sounding bass (if you've got the ability to use an equaliser with these you can really get some fantastic sound quality out of these with zero distortion). They are also excellent for listening to music with - again with a really impressive bass and treble range. Again, bear in mind that these things cost under 20 quid so are ridiculously cheap considering the quality. Not something you often hear about Apple kit! Lastly the comfort / fit, and again I had no issues with these at all. I have fairly small ears and these fit snugly and comfortably, and I've worn them for hour after hour barely even noticing they're there. I wouldn't say they're going to stay put in my ears when jogging or exercising but I've had no issues with 'em popping out so far, and as they're wired there's less chance of losing one down the loo like you'd get with airpods! I think the only minor, and I do mean VERY minor disappointment is the length of the cable which is pretty short, and the fact that the cable is extremely thin so it'd be worth keeping these in their box when you're not using them, they might not last long if you just bunch 'em up and shove 'em in your bag.
