Review: I’m impressed with this product as are my furry tobacconists. I would highly recommend it. - My guinea pigs have been using this bedding for two weeks now and they are rather impressed. Lady Red’s cough has gone because unlike the previous wood shavings these ones are dust extracted. They are a good quality, larger wood shaving. The smallest shavings in the bag are the size of a normal shaving for most other brands. The shavings aren’t as tightly jammed together so are much easier to get out of the bag, unlike the previous brands which required a lot of upper body strength. They absorb well trapping the ammonia smell. Although Isambard threatened to move out if I left the cages another day. That was more due to the hay smelling damp and his passive-aggressive Clifton Suspension Bridge modelled out of guinea pig poop. However, the was one small draw back. My guinea pigs now smell like they’ve started a promising career as tobacconists. The wood shavings are kilned dried giving them distinctly smoky aroma, akin to cade. Whilst the odour may not be to everyone’s liking it means the wood shavings are a better quality than most, which are air dried leaving the wood oils in the shaving potentially risking skin irritation. The smoky scent does fade from the room after a day yet remains on my guinea pigs as a faint cologne. Ezra now thinks he’s an upper middle-class gentleman and behaves with far more sophistication. He’s taken to reading The Guardian in a waistcoat during breakfast. I think they are great value and having 5 guinea pigs I need shavings that last. I’ve barely used a fifth of the bag on a three-tier cage and a separate fourth cage that have been cleaned out twice so far. Ezra dosent like it when Lady Red flirts with other men, he gets very jealous, so Erasmus has the life of a bachelor and more human attention which he loves. Back to my point, I’m impressed with this product as are my furry tobacconists. I would highly recommend it.
Review: As described - Proper large flakes. Very compressed, quarter of the bale went a long way. Not dusty with a fresh wood scent. Will definitely buy again.

## Features

- Bedding is potentially the biggest source of dust in the stable, and dust can impair or seriously damage your horse’s respiratory system. BEDMAX has one of the lowest levels of dust and spores on the market.
- Your horse’s hooves need firm, resilient support. Our larger flakes provide it. We also dry BEDMAX to a controlled moisture content to prevent hooves from drying out and cracking.
- Maintaining hygiene effectively is crucial and difficult. We make BEDMAX shavings from fresh pine because pine offers unique antibacterial action against harmful bacteria and fungi. We also dry our shavings at sterilising temperatures during production.
- BEDMAX shavings help create a clean, supportive bed that encourages horses to lie down and rest, and cushions hocks and other joints from damage.
- Poor bedding and bedding management exposes horses to greater contact with ammonia, which can damage the respiratory system and attack the structure of the hoof.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone used this for cat litter before?**
A: I wouldn't recommend as cat litter assuming your litter box is in your home. I find it really good for rabbits and it is absorbent but you do still get that urine soaked woody smell.

**Q: Why does it cost over £17 per bag when Equestrian stores sell it for £7.50?**
A: My local equestrian shop sells it for 12.99 so this is worth it as don't have to use the petrol to get there

**Q: Can this be used for rabbits?**
A: Yes this is great for most small animals, I use this for my fancy rats and guinea pigs. It is not dusty so great for rats as they have sensitive respiritory systems.

**Q: How long would this last for someone with a cage layout similar to a critter nation?**
A: It lasts me a couple of months, I have a similar rat set up and use it for my guineas too. People saying this is toxic for rats must have read some poor research. I can confirm it is not toxic to rats.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dust free and rats love it
*by H***Y on 25 August 2019*

This was very good value for money, the bale is much bigger than expected and the contents are compressed. I put 3-4' in the bottom of my two rats' cage and they love digging in it. I really like the smell but don't find it too strong, and I've not had any splinters from handling it. Obviously something like Carefresh is more absorbent but this is still very good and doesn't have to be changed frequently if they have a litter tray as well. My rats don't seem to pee in it at all, they just dig and bounce about. I've only bought one bale but it's completely dust free and I would give it higher marks than any paper bedding.
