The wood grain is printed or a sticker. Being outside will rust the metal parts and the UV damage the fiberglass but I'm guess your kids will be long grown out of it by then. **Q: My daughter is 84 pounds, would it support her weight to do back hip circles and chin up pullovers?** A: My daughter is roughly 70 lbs and when she does her back hip circle one of us adults have to stand on the brackets to keep it from moving too much. It met that need beautifully. Assembly took some time, but it was straightforward with good instructions. The design provides really good stability and it is not flimsy at all. What's really nice is that with two screw knobs, it can be folded up and put on the side when not in use. It is pretty compact and the included mat is good for now. We'll probably upgrade to a thicker cushion in the future as the bar height gets raised and with more practice. She loves to practice on it. The bar is very stable for her back hip circle and anything else she want to do on it. The only problem we had was the first bar set we ordered was canceled by Amazon,so we reordered another set and I call customer service and to make sure everything would be ok. I must say I got the best service from them the lady at customer service, track the bar set for me all the way thru shipping till we receive it. Once,we received it the only problem was, no screws or bolts and nuts. But my husband being an engineer had everything here we needed. That was the only reason for the 4 star rating.. But 10 Stars to customer service.
