It is only a new shell. You can use the back of the original to keep the Cadillac emblem. They go togher just like the OEM. **Q: why do you have to 'reprogram' it if you are moving all the components into the new shell, you are not altering anything but the outside cover?** A: You don’t have to reprogram just pop the old shell on and put the new shell on. Mine worked perfectly **Q: Has anyone tried placing the buttons from this one into an oem remote? the only thing wrong with my fob is worn out buttons.** A: I'm not sure, we used the entire fob. Mine was really worn out. **Q: Is this fob compatible with the xt5? the descriptions (top and bottom) are contradictory. the top shows it is and the bottom doesn't show that it is.** A: If your key looks like this it is compatible.
