I am a professional gardener and have 2 pairs of No 6 and 1 pair of No 2( I need a spare No 6 when I send the other 2 pairs off to be serviced). I use No 6 the most, it will prune just about anything. Every year I send them back to Felco to be serviced, it costs £25 and they come back looking like new. I used these generally 5-6 days a week, so bear that in mind - if you look after yours and use them just occasionally, they will last a really long time. I have tried using cheaper secateurs, there is just no point, it is false economy, but that's just my opinion. Whilst I think Felco do not make the best pruning saws, they definitely make the best secateurs. **Q: what is the difference between Felco 2 and 8 please?** A: Felco 2 has straight handles whereas Felco 8 has shaped handles which feel more secure in the hand when using and enable a better grip. **Q: Hi I bought a felco 2, 4 months ago and there already not usable as the thread has gone to tighten them up. Any help would be great thank you.** A: This is very unusual as these are quality secateurs. Have you used them on over large branches , have they been strained in any way ? I suggest that you return them to the Felco suppliers where you bought them as they should be under warranty after such a short period of usage, explain your disappointment and ask for an exchange . Swiss made and Swiss precision I have used these secateurs in a commercial situation for over forty years and never had any problems with them. Normally they would not need tightening until a blade change is required , just a quick sharpen with a small oil stone before work. If they worked loose during normal work then it sounds as though the thread may be faulty. You should have had a small screwdriver blade included in your purchase pack which is really the only tool required for maintenance and is used to tighten the screw which engages the toothed locking device on the secateurs . Check to see if this is missing but essentially if still a problem then check with your supplier. I hope this helps. **Q: How long shall the felco secateur be on offer** A: Nonsense these weren’t fake. I bought two pairs whilst on offer. There may well be sellers sending out fakes, but is you buy from Amazon direct they are 100% genuine.
