I'm not sure there is any real difference between the "T" and "R" - I used one of these for the build of a directional ultrasonic detector to help find electrical arcs... I only need transmitters.** A: No, the receivers are marked with R and transmitters with T. You could experiment and see. If you don't want to experiment, assume they are not the same and you must use R for receiver and T for a transmitter. **Q: Do these do their own tone generation/demodulation? Or are they effectively high-frequency speakers/mics and an external circuit does the processing?** A: They are effectively a high frequency speaker/mic **Q: Can you use this to measure flow rate in a pressurized water pipe?
