Review: Perfect for fixing a broken guitar headstock - I got this to help repair a guitar headstock that had broken in two - it was not a clean break, but had lots of jagged bits of wood and lacquered topsheet. Applying the glue was easy, plus the fact this is a water soluble wood glue means it can be washed off your hands once you're done applying it. (hence no stars for water resistance... not a relevant property for this item!). Guitar is back to normal - took 2 sets of tunes for the strings and newly bonded wood to "settle" and hold tune, but it's humming along well now. Do recommend using clamps to hold the joint steady for 24 hrs for a strong bond.
Review: Recommended - I couldn't recommend this stuff with, it's the best wood glue I've ever used.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used to glue a violin nut? Can it detach easily ? Thanks**
A: This is a very good glue. I have pieces attached with this glue over ten years; however, I don't know how much stress will have with the violin nut. But if ...it is to hold the nut in place I believe would work.

**Q: What shade of brown is this glue?**
A: It's a translucent light brown.

**Q: Does it work on engineered wood?**
A: Yes, this glue works on engineered wood. As a side note: it also works on fingers, shirts, and jeans. Be careful how much you use and where you wipe your hands.

**Q: Is this strong enough to repair a broken guitar neck, after being applied and tightly clamped until dry?**
A: The short answer is yes, this glue is strong enough for a guitar neck. The long answer is hide glue was the only glue available for centuries so it has plenty of strength. However, in this case it really depends on the orientation of the break, where it is and what caused it. 1) If the wood used for the neck is bad wood then the wood failed and no glue will hold for long2) If the break is across the grain of the wood, rather than along it, then no glue will work to hold it together3) If the break is in a location that's the wood is thin then the wood probably wasn't strong enough and no glue will work4) If the break is at a joint, where 2 pieces of wood meet, you may not be able to easily repair it; if you are able to repair it, all the old glue (unless it's hide glue) needs to be removed from the wood so you have a clean surface to glue up

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best hide glue to use
*by D***N on 3 January 2021*

If you use hide glue infrequently or don't want the faff of a hot glue pot this is the glue to use. I've used it over the years on violins, cellos and double basses and it is fantastic stuff giving a near original quality glue joint whether repairing damage or rebuilding an instrument. The latest was a longcase clock case which was in need of restoration and this I felt was the most appropriate adhesive to use. Tip: To make the glue flow better, put the bottle in a jug of hot water five minutes before use and it goes quite a bit more liquid, this makes getting a good even coverage very easy and it soaks into the wood structure better to give a super strong joint.
