If I was using it for backpacking the size would be appropriate because the weight is perfect for carrying up a mountain. But my backpacking days are over. I prefer a different style for going to concerts in the park; lightweight is still important for that, but decide for yourself. If lightweight is your #1 priority, buy this!It was surprisingly easy to put together, and, with little finger loops, the top was easy to stretch over the poles (some have commented otherwise). This chair is very well designed and an excellent, sturdy chair; I'm sorry it didn't work for me. I can manage a couple more pounds for a little better fit.
