We began with all the items facing up the way until he became familiar with the game and then moved on to playing it with the items facing downwards to challenge him once the game became a bit repetitive. My son has speech difficulties and i'm always looking for games that I can incorporate in his speech program at home this was perfect, it's in a small box and easy to store away.This game is also brilliant for encouraging discussions around (un)healthy foods and what they should be eating and how often as the lunch boxes have both healthy and unhealthy foods. Again with my sons speech difficulty i adapted another game to help him based on the traffic light labeling on foods in stores (uk) although it would be a good activity for preschool children in general. I showed him an item with it on it and then placed three printed circles one green (foods we can have lots of), one amber(foods we can have some of) and one red (foods only want to eat rarely, for example special occasions) . Then we began sorted the images from the game into the different groups and talked about what we were doing. On our next shopping trip he was very keen to guide me in what I was choosing and decided against chocolate digestive biscuits because there was too much red on the label.All in all a great game to have at home for parents, to interact with children and to open discussions.
