It deflects sound from the bell back towards the player, allowing for better self-hearing during performances. With a simple attachment process and compatibility with various saxophone types, this lightweight deflector is perfect for musicians on the go. ## Description Jazz Lab are best known for creating innovative products such as the Sax holder, Sax silencer and now the Sax deflector to aid all sax players both at home and in a live setting. The SAXDEFLECTOR is a new product for 2016 that will prove to be of great use to many players. It is in essence an acoustic shield that quickly and securely clips onto the underside of the bell. The shield is angled towards the player so the sound can be redirected towards your ears. This helps you work on your articulation when practising at home even at lower volumes and for better audibility when playing live, as it can be difficult to hear clearly at a gig. The angle can also be adjusted easily for a different heights of player. There is a small hole in the shield to allow for sound to be carried towards the audience so it does not mute your saxophones tone. It can be fitted onto soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and can neatly be transported in a case or gig bag. Review: I think this is brilliant. It clips easily onto any of the saxes and, with it, you can hear exactly what you sound like (volume, tone ,intonation), whether during practice or in wind band rehearsal. For example, it has helped me tackle a tone differential between lower and upper register, because I can hear directly what alterations to embouchure etc. actually do. In the band situation, when the bari part goes up high, it is easy to get lost in the alto 'wash'. The Deflector means you can hear what you are playing and adjust accordingly. Yes, you can get the same effect by playing to a wall and, yes, it is a bit pricey, but for me, it's a great bit of kit that has really helped. Review: Not effective - This was not good value for the money - a plastic disc and a clip. Did not have much effect. No way near as good as playing my saxophone against a wall ## Features - Deflects the sound from the bell back towards the player - Perfect for gigs to enable you to hear yourself better - Simple attachment to the bell - Small hole in the shield to let some of your sound pass through - Suitable for alto, tenor and baritone saxophones ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Product Dimensions | 20.98 x 16.48 x 2.49 cm; 154.22 g | | Item model number | SAXDEFLECTOR | | Scale Length | inches | | Item Weight | 154 g | ## Images ![Saxholder SAXDEFLECTOR Sound Deflector for Saxophone - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51SrOvUkP2L.jpg) ![Saxholder SAXDEFLECTOR Sound Deflector for Saxophone - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71N3+-WXq+L.jpg) ![Saxholder SAXDEFLECTOR Sound Deflector for Saxophone - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51PQbT8kBFL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: how does it sound with a clip on mic?** A: I use it in a live rock band setting with a clip on Pro Audio Technica 35. Works great. And if you cant get your monitor mix right, you get great feedback from your sound without futzing with the sound guy!!!! **Q: Will this device scratch your instrument?** A: I haven't had any issues on any of my horns. Alto, tenor and soprano **Q: How well does it work with an SM58 mic?** A: Perfect . Works with all types of mics. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by T***E on 26 August 2024* Great piece of kit, use it on every practice and gig! Buy one you won’t regret it. You can hear so much ### ⭐ Not effective *by C***Y on 15 March 2022* This was not good value for the money - a plastic disc and a clip. Did not have much effect. No way near as good as playing my saxophone against a wall ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great but pricey *by A***R on 5 February 2017* As a piece of kit this is great, gives a much better idea of how you actually sound, great for tuning and dynamics. Highly recommended if you are serious about improving your playing. Would be 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive- it's only a lump of plastic for crying out loud. If you had a bit if time you could probably make something similar for a fraction of the price --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/50632891-saxholder-saxdeflector-sound-deflector-for-saxophone](https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/50632891-saxholder-saxdeflector-sound-deflector-for-saxophone) --- *Product available on Desertcart Argentina* *Store origin: AR* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
