Review: Hot!! - I read all the other reviews and as it was very mixed I thought I'd give them a go as its a fantastic idea! I have a multi fuel closed steel burner. I normal use coal eggs,so when I had a few embers left I put around 1/4 box of coffee logs on. I had it in damp down mode. It really does produce a lot of smoke but let a liitle air in and it goes off..big flames plus 20 minutes and the heat coming off is the hottest I have ever had my fire. We had to sit in the back room for the first hour! It burns hotter than anything I've used. It last about a third longer than soft would and same as hard wood, and about a quarter of coal egg times. The logs were whole and only slightly crumbly. No smells (but its a closed glass front burner). Very little but fine ash. Mixed with coal eggs you would use a third less for same output. Problem is they are expensive, and sorry little companies but this stuff needs producing en masse to get to an economic price. £2.99-£3.99 and it would replace logs in general, especially for closed units. I would buy and use as a main fuel if that price could come down. All in all a great product, fantastic idea
Review: Good fuel but pricey - This is a good product. The 'logs' arrived in good condition and burn easily and hotly with a nice flame. I burn them in a Dunsley Woodburner. Little ash is left. Don't prod them with a poker though or they collapse to dust. I didn't notice any smell and, so long as you don't prod them, they don't give off a lot of smoke either. I really like the idea of using post-consumer coffee waste to produce a fuel. As a 'renewable' fuel source this is a great idea. What troubles me is the price. They're expensive compared to air dried wood or coal. If Bio-Bean can bring the price point down I'll definitely be buying more. Edited to say I've burnt more than 10 bags of these with no problems. Also had a relative burn them in an open fire without any issues.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do they stain your shoes**
A: No they don’t unless you put your shoes in the wood burner, and they melt.

**Q: Can these be used in a log burner as well as multi fuel burners?**
A: I use them in a wood burner. You cannot treat them as you would a normal log though, they aren't wood or coals so you need to get a fire going first. As the fires burn down, I add a log.
When that log starts to die, I add some scraps of wood to get another fire burning in order to add another log.
I only burn one log at a time as they do tend to burn far hotter than wood.

**Q: can these logs be burned in a no smoke zone**
A: The information supplied that only fossil fuels are on the defra list is incorrect. This means that people may get the wrong idea about what you cannot burn. Wood must be dry to a certain percentage and clean. So burning damp, painted or treated wood is not ok.
I’m on my first trial of coffee logs today. I like to experiment to get the best value for money. So far these have caught well when lighting, I’ve not been out to see how much smoke they generate yet. But I’m already feeling heat after half a hour which is better than smokeless fuel, I’m seeing how these burn compared to a bag of sawdust logs which currently costs £3.50 for a 10kg bag which burns quickly but throws out heat. If this coffe bean bag lasts 2 days then it’s a contender.

**Q: Does it have an aroma?**
A: While there is a faint coffee aroma when you open the bag, Coffee Logs don’t smell of coffee when they’re burning. Although it is quite a subjective topic. Some people swear they smell coffee when the logs are burning! We think they give off a pleasant aroma, akin to burning wood or charcoal.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good product, minimal waste and mess, optimal heat and convenience.
*by S***F on 25 October 2020*

Bought these on impulse and have since bought more. We use them in our wood burner once it has got going and they do fine, plenty of heat and each one lasts about 75 to 90 minutes partially dependent on how much draught you're giving the fire. They leave very little ash, but "don't" use a poker on them once they're in the fire, or they'll just turn to powder on the spot. Couldn't see much smoke coming out of the chimney, and while they smell pleasantly of coffee on opening the bag, they don't smell of anything when burning. All in all very happy with these but would like a bigger discount for bulk purchase ;-)
