Overview The Eyelighter 3 from WestcottÂis a high-quality reflector featuring reversible silver/black and sunlight/white fabrics. It allows you to achieve beautiful clamshell lighting with a single light source. The arc-shaped design matches the natural curvature of the human eye, resulting in seamless catchlights and no unflattering shapes or gaps. Its framework has a secure quick-lock system with an easy push-and-release button for quick and easy setup and breakdown. Tension rods pull the reflective fabric taut to maximize the light cast. Included are three fabric surfaces for reflecting studio or ambient light plus black for blocking light. Changing the fabrics is a breeze as the reversible white/sunlight fabric stacks on the silver base fabric using hook-and-loop tape. Silver is the most popular fabric due to the distinct look it gives. It creates a very specular light and fills in almost all shadows under the chin and nose. It produces a very defined highlight in the eyes. The white fabric produces a soft, subtle fill and retains some shadows under the chin and nose to help add dimension to your subject's face. The highlight in the eyes is less dramatic and more natural-looking. The sunlight fabric creates a very specular light with slightly warmer tones. Review: Worth 5 stars - This is exactly what I would expect from Westcott; a well designed quality product. This is the optimum size, not too big and unwieldy, and sufficient large to provide perfect illumination of the subject. It is easy to assemble and dismantle, it ticks all the right boxes, in fact the only blemish with this product, in my opinion, its made in China. Nothing against Chinese products per se; sadly my house is full of them, so where ever possible I like to support European or USA Industries, since they tend not to cut corners when it comes to manufactured products. The reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5, which in all honesty it deserves, is the fact that it is expensive when compared to other Chinese made curved reflectors. I did consider the Walimex pro Halfpipe reflector, since it is a more cost effective product, and constructed from quality materials, manageable size and more than capable of withstanding the rigours demanded by the professional photographer.

This is exactly what I would expect from Westcott; a well designed quality product. I ordered this curved reflector for my headshot sessions in my photography studio and I'm really happy with the end results. When placed correctly, it creates a really beautiful and attention grabbing catchlight on the lower half of the eye. That might seem like a small detail but when it comes to portrait photography, it's so important to make the eyes engaging. This reflector does a lot of the work to draw and hold the viewers attention to the eyes. It's best used in a butterfly lighting setup. It was easy to set up and hasn't lost any durability in the several times I've set it up and taken it down. The various color surfaces for the reflection provides nice options for different styles but I tend to just use the white and the silver. It works well with a shorter stand (stand not provided). The only thing I could say disappoints me about the item is the single stiching. Double stiching would be better but as I mentioned the durability has held up.
