The movie follows Armand Roulin (Douglas Booth), the son of an acquaintance of Vincent van Gogh, as he attempts to deliver a letter from the painter following van Gogh’s death. Armand soon finds himself retracing the steps taken by Vincent in his final days in an attempt to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death. A film unlike any other, “Loving Vincent” is entirely hand painted – each of the movie’s 65,000 frames is an oil painting on a canvas created using the same techniques as Vincent van Gogh. Good Deed Entertainment is releasing “Loving Vincent” on September 22nd in New York before expanding to Los Angeles on September 29th and nationally on October 6th. In addition to being a wonder for the eyes, “Loving Vincent” is a treat for the ears. Scoring duties fell to English composer Clint Mansell (Requiem For A Dream, Black Swan), who has crafted a masterpiece. Somber yet driven, Mansell’s compositions are filled the swell of mournful strings pocked with delicate, deliberate notes in countermelodies. A perfect companion to the story of dreadful loss and resigned understanding, “Loving Vincent” demands to be heard. A beautiful rendition of “Starry Starry Night” performed by Lianne La Havas that serves as the film’s credit song is also included. Well I'll first start off by saying if you have not seen this film and the documentary about making it, you absolutely should. This is one of my favorite original scores for a movie, and the vinyl certainly did not disappoint. At time of purchase, it was a $50 total, which was worth it. The record did come in perfect condition, even from its journey overseas, and it was a yellow variant. I would recommend buying this on vinyl to most anyone who enjoys the stories scores can tell. (I would also say you should get this on vinyl even if you haven't seen the movie because it is perfect to listen to at night, with a cup of tea; and if it's raining outside, wow - the perfect experience.) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Take for a spin *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2017* I am enjoying the music which is instrumental, orchestral, and sometime it reminds me of some of the music in Braveheart ( not the battle-scenes) with the choir vocals in the background.
