I added labels to our laundry baskets and it worked very well despite not being standard clothing fabric. The color is vibrant against the fabric and adheres great. Here are the steps I took: I cut the letters I needed and put them (plastic side up, black grainy side down), I put a baking/cooking sheet (the parchment kind) on top and set the hot iron on top. I alternated a few seconds at a time with the iron. About 2-3 minutes total.
