## Features

- STRONG AND DURABLE 3D PRINTS - ABS is one of the plastic filament materials most commonly used for 3D printing. It produces durable 3D printed models that have higher resistance to heat and are less brittle than those printed with some other popular 3D printing materials (like PLA)
- HIGH QUALITY ABS FILAMENT - Octave engineered its ABS filament to work at a wide extruder temperature range, and manufactures it to tight tolerances using quality materials, so it works smoothly and consistently
- PROFESSIONAL 3D PRINTED MODELS - Models printed with Octave ABS filament are tougher, more durable, and more heat resistant than models 3D printed with PLA, and have more in common with mass-produced plastic models and parts. Octave ABS can be sanded, glued, and painted, as well as post processed in an acetone vapor bath for a smoother, glossy finish.
- WIDE COMPATIBILITY - Octave ABS filament prints at temperatures from 210-250℃, so it works well with most 3D printers that support 1.75mm ABS filament, like Raise3D, ZMorph, Afinia, FlashForge, Creality, Fusion3 F410, UP, PrintrBot, MakerGear, Solidoodle, CraftBot, and others (80-120℃ heated print bed strongly recommended, external spool holder may be required—always check your printers’ specifications).
- SPECIFICATIONS - Color = purple, Material = ABS, Filament diameter = 1.75mm, Print temperature = 210-250°C, Recommended print bed temperature = 80-120℃, Spool capacity = 1kg (2.2lb), Filament length = 400m (approximate), Reel diameter = 16cm (6.30”), Reel width = 9cm (3.54”), Hub diameter = 3.5cm (1.38”), Hub width = 8.5cm (3.35”)

    Good filament, good price

So I wanted to wait awhile after doing some printing before posting any kind of review; here is what I have found. The filament came in a vacuum sealed bag with silica packets or whatever those moisture absorbing things are called, which was nice as I have ordered filament before from some other suppliers who don't seem to bother with protecting the filament from moisture, and if these things are being shipped by sea then you definitely want your filament being protected (filament manf. are you getting the hint here?)The spool actually seems to contain the amount of filament stated on the side as it weighs in just over 1kg which I assume is due to the additional weight of the spool itself. I can't tell you how many times I have been short changed by ordering filament that was suppose to be 1kg but only to find it actually had something like 800 or 900g total weight, and that was with the spool's combined weight! The filament diameter seemed to stay pretty consistent throughout, but I did not do any real precision checking or anything, just spot checked it with some digital calipers at a few different spots along the filament. I should probably mention I print with an Afinia printer which doesn't have the ability to adjust its grip on the filament as it extrudes like some other printers can. I mention this because I think it's more important for those of us with these types of printers that we get filament that stays consistent all the way through, because if we don't it can sometimes end with a failed print. I can happily report that I have not had a single jam or misprint since using this filament.I should also mention that I bought one of those 8 position temp switches awhile ago from these guys for my printer. They state 236C is a good print temp, but I have found that to be more of just an average rather than an absolute as I like to print it at 229C as it seems to make the raft and support a super breeze to remove. But when I print Octave white I tend to use 236C, so not exactly sure why the difference, but when I emailed the Octave guys to ask about it they told me that different colors, (especially black), may require slight temp changes to get the best performance, which was partial reason for the temp switches. I can't pretend to know the science behind it, but I do know that a good black filament has been such a huge headache to find as most black filament I have bought has usually failed and caused jams. After seeing how well the Octave black did, I don't think I will be bothering to find any new sellers for filament. The Octave stuff seems to have performed very well for me, and the customer service from these guys is phenomenal.Octave, if you see this, thank you so much for all the help and info you guys gave. It's definitely a dying trait to find good customer service nowadays. I will definitely recommend you guys to anybody looking for printers or filament.

    Excellent choice for ABS filament!

After doing a lot of research, I finally purchased my first Octave black ABS filament for my Afinia 3D printer and MakerBot Replicator 2X. Back then, I just using a premium filament from another brand, I needed something that is cost-effective and a consistent clog-free filament for my work (3D architectural buildings, models and prototypes) The prints were eye catching enough and quality of this filament rivals the premium brands out there, I can hardly tell the difference which model was which (it's almost like comparing 720p to 1080p on a 32" tv screen) That being said, the filament is reliable if you know what you're doing in terms of printer configuration, set up, temperature, etc.First thing I did was download a spool holder and the stalk and nipple system (filament dust filter) from the Octave's website. TIP: I do recommend to everyone to 3D print a dust filter (available also on thingiverse.com) especially if you're just going to leave your filament in an exposed environment for a long period of time. Remember, dust does not melt once it gets inside the heater block, it will remain clogged inside your nozzle and can jam your print. After doing some test prints on the Afinia, the filament was perfect at 236 C (using Octave's Temp. Switch) I never had any issues on warping and separation of the layers on the models with my setup. I prefer using Borosilicate Glass for my platform and apply two layers/coats of Washable Elmer's Glue (Purple glue) I would suggest heating up the glass for at least 45-60 minutes or until the platform reaches 95 C. Apply the Washable Elmer's glue three minutes before it starts printing out the first layer for better adhesion of the filament to the glass.I would recommend this filament especially if you are on a budget like me, designers/prototypers or even to a hobbyist. I will most likely purchase a different color.Just a friendly reminder to place your 3D printer at room temperature and away from any open windows. A gust of win can cause a lift of your print from the platform.
