My fingers were beginning to smart so I looked for an alternate device and found the Genteel.I selected the clear tip for my Genteel and I test on my palm below my thumb. The Genteel removes the need to squeeze where you have lanced because it uses light suction to draw a sample bead to the surface. You see the bead appear and release the vacuum by lifting your finger from the button on the Genteel. Lift the Genteel off the site and bring the prepared meter the capture the sample.I usually press the used Lancet into the protective disc it came with to render it safe for disposal along with the test strip.The instructions are crystal clear and easy to follow.If you are unfortunate to have to test your blood glucose frequently or perhaps have to test a small child then this device can minimise the pain of testing and practically eliminate any discomfort in the tested area on going.The benefit justifies the cost of the Genteel in my opinion. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Why didn’t I by sooner? *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 25 May 2019* I have found it hard to justify the cost of this so have struggled on with ordinary lancets for far too long despite being incredibly difficult to get blood out of. Even phlebotomists, paramedics and doctors can’t do it and so I have so many holes every day it it is ridiculous.With this I am using tip depth number 4 on my arms, only once have needed more than a single drop for my blood thirsty ketone meter, absolutely painless. Leaves a tiny dot of a mark (well you can also see the circle for a few minutes).Slightly wider than some lancets to carry but not huge (12.5 cm long with a slightly bigger case).Very easy to use, slightly stiff to push in plunger but I just push it down on the table ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not like other lancing devices *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 7 September 2017* This works in a very different way from other lancing devices (when you get it you are pointed to a video that explains how to use it). Instead of pricking a finger, you can puse this on your palm or another suitable part of your body, and with a bit of practice and the right cap get a perfectly sized drop of blood almost every time. You really do need to follow the instructions carefully until you get the hang of it. Good points - it is well built, seems reliable and feels of very high quality, it comes in a variety of colours plus some customisation stickers, it works with standard lancets (some Genteel ones are supplied) and it also comes with a case to fit the device plus your test meter and test strips. Bad points - it is really very expensive (but you may be able to claim VAT back on it if you have a chronic illness such as diabetes) and it is quite large.
