It has a wheel of colours on the back and you can choose just one colour by pressing the relevant part of the wheel or hold the power button for a few seconds for it to go through the range. **Q: what's the difference between the mini led light and the micro led light, apart from the size of the unit?** A: Hiya, I think the mini has more colour combinations and is probably a bit brighter? **Q: Can you have Just a normal warm white light** A: No only coloured light red orange green yellow blue magenta purple but it's more lilac than purple .. **Q: Can this be set to come on using an external timer?** A: No, it cannot. If you power it down - e.g. via an exernal timer - when it comes back on, it will cycle all colors and automatically switch off. Throws out coloured light for about 1-2 metres so whilst it won't light your whole room, it can give a nice accent. The ability to mix you own colour is great - not unlimited, but some good 'inbetween' shades like teal, grass green, light orange, pale pink etc.The disco-esque light cycling setting is pure madness, but maybe you like that.Build feels a bit flimsy and front-heavy - my friends, who are lighting designers - have something a couple of models up which is much more powerful. Cord is maybe 1.5m long? Could do with being longer. I had to hang my multiplug extension thingy off the wall beneath my desk in order to sit this comfortably on top of the bookshelf.I got it originally because I get Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter depression) and though having some blue-ish light could help. Actually I don't really use it for that (get daylight bulbs for your main room light instead, or if you want to invest, a SAD lamp, and a wake-up light) but it gives a nice glow to the corner where my speakers are when playing music. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better value for money than its bigger brother *by W***L on 7 January 2016* Bought this for my girlfriend to add some mood lighting to her dingy and dark university room. She loves it, to the naked eye its just as bright as its bigger brother. It only has the colour-changer on the rear, so if you want to set favourites or use this as a disco light, you need to buy the larger one that comes with the remote control.
