However, when the alarm goes off, you really do jump out of bed to turn it off as it's v. loud. So I guess it works !! x **Q: what are the dimension of the item?** A: The actual clock is 2 1/2 ins sq. it is in a small black plastic case which is 3 ins sq. hope this helps? **Q: Some reviewers say the hands are illuminated at night, others that they aren't ! It’s well made, sturdy and nicely designed. It’s a bit tricky to set the time and alarm, but maybe it’ll be easier if I remove the battery cover, then replace it afterwards, as there’s not much room to get hold of the buttons otherwise. That’s the only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars. It’s a good size for travelling with, and the dial face is easy to read. The actual alarm is a good volume and there is no ticking noise to disturb my sleep throughout the night.
