Review: Amazing value for money! - I bought this 3D printer for the sole intention of having something fun to do with my son, and the price of this one (£199) meant that it wouldn't be too much of a disaster compared to the more expensive ones if it ended up not being something we enjoyed. I was prepared for some headache and heartache when it came to setting it up, and it was quite daunting when I opened the box, but actually it was a breeze. The printer came with a single sheet of paper instructions, but included in the box was a USB stick with not just a more detailed pdf user manual, but also a handy video to follow! I think I could have set it up in half the time it actually took me, but I was held up by a slightly I'll fitting Allen bolt. I had to remove about a half mm of plastic from one of the screw holes with a paring knife from the kitchen, but no buggy, bolt went in after that. It's worth noting that the kit is already partially assembled, if you can put together a simple bit of flat pack furniture, you can assemble this. The kit comes with a selection of Allen key sizes too. The included software was easy to install on my three year old laptop with windows 10, and again there was enough information included with the printer to have the software running with one of the included example 3D files minutes after assembly was completed. Printing itself is really quite extraordinary. Apart from the initial calibration with the included credit card sized calibration card, I haven't really had to change or fiddle with any of the printers default settings! We have managed to successfully print a Mickey mouse, batman, Dumbledores head, a tiny millennium falcon, some Pokémon, a decent sized stationary holder in the style of a castle, a star destroyer, some Disney characters, a bookmark amongst others! A few prints have failed but I think that's been down to iffy designs. Some have failed due to the print not adhering to the printing plate, but a quick Google and some cheap hairspray fixed that. Printing can take a bit of time, anything between just under an hour to many many hours depending on the size and detail of the print, however it is quite fun to watch and is not overly loud. Even with all that printing, there is quite a bit of the included half kilogrammes of PLA plastic left that came with the printer. There are guides online on printing parts from this printer that upgrade this printer, how mind blowing is that! The reason why I say this is because I purchased a the DIY 3D Printer from them it worked fine for 2 months but after the second month it stopped working none of the buttons work on it anymore I cant print through usb on my PC and the sd card print doesnt work either. I contacted Colido by email asking them for a repair considering that my item is under warranty and I would pay for the courier to deliver it to them but they kept trying to convince me that the 3D printer was fine. They sent me around in circles for a week telling me to try this then try every day and nothing I tried would work. It was clear they were just trying their best to avoid repairing it for me so I sent them an honest email asking them why the dont want to repair it for me but now they wont reply to any of my emails. As it is DIY you also enjoy building it and taking it apart. 4 Stars because the extruder is getting jammed and now creating a mess. This could be a combination of extruder quality and my own handling. Still trying to clear or the extruder .
