Amazing replacement for salmon oil!
I have two 4 year old dachshunds and both have always had dry skin. Aside from that, back in November 2019 my one girl began developing recurrent ear infections. We tried everything and finally did a DNA test on her in February 2020. Came to find out she is allergic to chicken and salmon! I had been adding a pump of salmon oil in their dog food daily, plus they ate a lot of salmon treats. Starting March, we adjusted her diet and the only thing giving her omega-3’s was herring oil found in her new dog food. (Side note, the old dog food was Primal freeze dried raw which also had salmon oil included in the food. We switched to Vital essentials freeze dried raw which has herring oil only.) Good news was, internal ear infections cleared up almost immediately! We we’re thrilled. Bad news, I noticed her itching her ears even more now than before! I took a peak one day and her skin was extremely dry. She had huge flakes of dandruff all over both ears and was actually losing hair from itching. So I began researching, knowing we changed her diet and that she may be lacking omega-3’s. I found out that salmon oil has way more Omega-3’s than herring oil so she had went from more than enough with the old diet and supplements, to little to none. I then began to research what else I could supplement for the salmon oil. I came across this product and thought, how easy. Just powder in their food daily and I don’t have to worry about anything going rancid. Both of my doxies have been on it for about 4 weeks and the results are unbelievable! I wish I had taken a before picture of her skin but unfortunately I didn’t. My doxie has zero dry skin/flakes on her ears. She has completely cleared up and is back to her old, energetic self! Also, my other doxie has always been an itcher and we have noticed she is not itching anymore! I can’t say enough how happy I am to have found this product and will be using it every day from now on. Both of my girls had no issues with eating it either. They didn’t even notice that I added it to their food.

Amazing Stuff
My dog is doing great on this. I was running low so I bought the vegan version (same brand) as it was about $10 cheaper. Big mistake! I'm not sure what the difference is beyond being vegan, but my dog has started itching like crazy again. I wasn't sure if this product was what was helping with the itching or if it was the weather change. Now I know that it was this product. His itching didn't completely disappear, but it was about 80-90% better, and that's a win considering how bad it was.His coat is also super soft! I also noticed he wasn't trying to grab grass all the time and his digestion is much better. A tip: you can get 3 pouches on sale for $78 on the Mr. Ros website, no tax and free shipping! While I wait, I'll order another one here.Downside: it's messy, so be careful when you open it. I suggest tapping it on a table first to get all of it down to the bottom as when I first opened it, it went everywhere. It's very fine and tends to get stuck in the zip lock area. I transfer it to a little jar which makes it easier to deal with.

Huge Improvement On Dry Skin and Coat
My retired show dog Great Dane female has struggled with dry skin and coat since she was spayed. This isn’t uncommon since there is a hormone change once this occurs. She also in her older age had developed arthritis in her neck, also not uncommon for her breed or age.I finally purchased this product and have noticed a massive improvement in her coats shine and the amount of dander and shedding. The dose is so small I easily hide it in her food. And I prefer this to fish oils as they contain trace metals. Also paired with a joint health supplement I have noticed significant improvement in her overall flexibility in her neck.I HIGHLY recommend this product, much more affordable than oil and it’s better in basically every way.

Please Read. 3 Months & Absolutely NO Change.
This review is somewhat out of order, but due to the length I wanted to be sure that at least the first part was read. I wanted to leave this review because the main reason I decided to go with this specific product was due to all of the positive outcomes. If this product worked for your dog, I am truly happy for you. In all honesty, if it had worked for my dog, I would have paid double just for him to feel better, but it ended up being a huge waste of money, time, and my poor dog is still suffering. I just nixed the phytoplankton from his diet today and began him on a daily coconut oil supplement. For any of you out there that didn’t see results from this product and want to avoid fish oil, coconut oil is another option. Our French Bulldog suffers from allergies and severe skin issues. Our vet had suggested we add fish oil to his diet and after only a week, we saw a drastic change in his skin. After doing some more research though, I began to worry about the source of the fish and mercury content. Although a bit pricy, I decided to switch him to Phytoplankton since it seemed to be the safest option and offered all the benefits. I was extremely hopeful and we definitely gave it a good chance to improve his skin and coat since its now been more than three months of adding the phytoplankton to his daily meal. I know how soft and moisturized his skin can be since the fish oil worked wonders for him. Unfortunately, we’ve seen absolutely no positive change using the phytoplankton and his skin issues have become much worse- his skin flaky and dry, his fur prickly, he itches nonstop and he’s constantly uncomfortable. My dog wasn’t deterred by the phytoplankton and ate his food as normal and he didn’t seem to have any negative side effects, besides it not working. The package seems very small, especially for the price, but I will say it does seem to last awhile. I quickly noticed that each time the product was opened, a decent amount seemed to be lost so I ended up transferring it into a glass spice jar. The package has a recommended serving size of a 1/8th or 1/16th teaspoon. Do they even make teaspoons in that size? It was basically impossible to measure so including a measuring scoop would have been nice.
