Review: Used on Bestway 10ft fast set pool - So far so good. This does heat the pool but it takes a while. I didn't check the temperature before running the heater, sorry, I forgot, but it was icy cold, I dipped my fingers in and it was unpleasantly cold, you know that feeling that its so cold it feels like a burn?! Anyway we had the heater running for about 30 hours constant to get the heat to about 24ish degrees. I'm going to run it for about 48 hours constantly next time we are due some sun! My 7 year old twins played in it at 24 degrees, they were having so much fun that me and my husband got in with them. It wasn't bath temperature warm but it was warm enough that we stayed in for about an hour - this was in the cold torrential rain this weekend, (don't judge us playing in a pool during the storm, it was a right laugh) we only got out when the wind started blowing the marquee and lifting it and we needed to get out and take it down so it didn't blow away. I was worried that it was never gonna heat the pool but if it was nice enough to play in a storm then I know next time I can run it a bit longer and hopefully get more enjoyment out of the pool when the weather is nice! We don't have an outside socket, so disclaimer- I'm not suggesting anyone else does this, but we got a heavy duty 13amp extension cable and fully unwound it. I kept checking the heater plug and extension plug to make sure they didn't get hot - they didn't. I want to be clear that the instructions say it shouldn't be plugged into an extension cable. (All my other extensions are 10amp.) When I first ran the heater the water coming out felt very cold, I just kept the cover on the pool and every few hours I went out and swished the water round with the pool net. The filter pump i used was the one that came with the bestway 10ft fast set pool. I made sure the filter was clean and the chemicals were all balanced before I ran the heater. All in all, this heater does heat the pool, I was thinking it would only take the chill off but it was quite nice ambient temperature even during the wizard of Oz rain and wind we had! It's not cheap to run, it cost about £10ish for 24 hours. Like I said I'll be running it for 48 next time we have pool weather, I don't think it will need to be on everyday in nicer weather, once the pools warm I'm hoping just to run it for a few hours in the morning but I obviously don't know that for sure . Let's be real, if you want a massive pool in the UK, and you want the kids to actually get in and enjoy it without getting blue lips, its going to cost money. We filled it with cold water from the outside tap because our kitchen tap won't fit an adapter for the hose but at least now I know I can get it warm. This was just a little set up test before the school holidays. If I encounter any problems I'll update. Little update. In the rainy/windy weather this managed to get the pool to 32 degrees. It was a little pricey but I was expecting that and the kids got loads of use out of it. The last few days the weather was really hot, I refilled the pool and put the heater on just while the kids were at school. It cost a few pounds and the pool temp was again at 24 degrees which was warm enough for hot weather without any wind. I would recommend.
Review: WARNING COMES WITH EU STYLE PLUG - We ordered this item from desertcart UK and fullfilled by desertcart UK when it arrived it had a Euro style 2 pin plug !!! We contacted desertcart about this who suggested an adaptor. I tried with an adaptor but the heater kept tripping so I had a replacement shipped out only to discover this too had a Euro style 2 pin plug. So this time I contacted INTEX UK whom were very helpful imforming me that under NO circumstances should the heater be used in the UK with an adaptor as it will keep tripping and be unsafe. I have asked desertcart for a refund and compensation due to the fact we have now had to drain the pool along with expensive chemicals down the drain. I am happy to report they have refunded the item and given us £15 voucher towards the lost chemicals. desertcart UK have now removed thier heaters from sale and I notice that only 3rd party sellers now supply them so it may well be an idea prior to purchase a quick email to the sellers and check which style RCD the heater they supply comes with as the 2 pin Euro style will not work with an adaptor in the UK and has the potential to maim or kill if used here. Intial calls were handled by overseas advisors whom did not grasp the issue of wrong type of RCD and the danger issue. Perhaps desertcart when selling any type of electrical goods they should direct calls to English call centres or even have a direct number to call when a customers has potential dangerous goods from them.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why is the heater only warming up the top part of the water?**
A: The filter pump is probably not strong enough to circulate the water enough,I stick my arm in the pool and swish the water around for a minute mixing the hot and cold water together then cover the pool again for it to heat up again. My pool 8ft (1500 litres) heated up to 34°c in 18 hours and got a 10ft (3500 litres) pool upto 37°c in just over 2 days by helping the hot and cold water to mix .Hope this helps.

**Q: Will this produce a noticeably warm stream of water? we have one and what comes out the pipe is barely warm! are they all like this, or is ours bust?**
A: A quick calculation tells me that when used with a 2000 litres/hour pump, the outlet temperature would only be 0.9 degrees Centigrade above the inlet. So it wouldn't feel noticeably warmer. Extending this a bit further, I'd expect a 2x3 metre pool (3834 litres) to heat up by about 0.5 degrees C per hour, WITHOUT any heat losses. This might even be true if the air temperature is higher than the water temperature ! Either way, you are probably going to use about 20 kW hours of electricity to raise the temperature by 5 degrees. Check the cost of your electricity to see why you probably wouldn't want to run this 24/7 ...

**Q: How long is the cable? I don't know how people can achieve plugging these devices in without an extension lead!**
A: I bought an extension lead with a water proof multi point box attached, the kind you would use for outdoor Christmas decorations. I bought mine from B & Q from memory approx. £25, this is a safer way to wire up bearing in mind there's lots of water about!

**Q: Do I need a filter to be purchased to make this work please? I ve just taken this out of the box and it seems to mention filter....**
A: This should be connected to the outflow of your filter pump. The pump will then push the water through the heater. Without a pump the heater will not work as no water will be circulating through it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant!!!!!
*by C***D on 10 June 2012*

The thing to remember about heating a swimming pool is that it isnt like boiling a pan of water and it takes a few days to reach the ideal temperature of around 28-30deg C. Alot of people make the mistake of expecting the pool water to be at a tropical temperature after a couple of hours and this will not happen without spending around one thousand pounds on a pool heater for your £150 swimming pool. We have an 18ft round pool that is 4ft deep and holds approx 20,000 litres of water. This little 3kw heater raised the temperature around 2degrees C per day with the help of a solar cover. When we switched the heater off the water temp dropped by approx 1 degree C per day. So basically, once youve hit the desired temperature you can switch the heater off and switch it on for approx 3days per week to keep your water between 25 & 30deg C. Not only is this a great little heater but its also the cheapest of its kind on the market. It says in the product description that its for pools up to 15ft diameter but as ive said, ours is 18ft and it does a fantastic job. I have no hesitation in recommending this heater. 5 starts all round - Brilliant!!
