Using your laptop in bed, recovering from surgery !
I recently had surgery, lower back. Nothing too serious but recovery time is 2-8 weeks. That being said, I cannot sit down for more than 10 minutes which makes using a laptop (15" Macbook Pro) a huge challenge. I went a whole week of barely using my laptop / trying to use it in bed. I was getting no work done. I finally had enough and decided to look for a suitable laptop stand. Well right now, I am in bed, using the Lavolta stand and writing this review ! The stand itself is made from metal, aluminium but it isn't as solid or thick as you think, but neither is it thin enough to get you worried. It is sufficient. The mechanisms for locking and unlocking the joints to move the legs are decent and allow full 360 rotation allowing you to position the legs however you want. Lavolta provides you with a useful leaflet with potential positions but if you had surgery and your stuck in a bed, the mechanism allows you to be as creative as you want lol. The actual tray that hold the laptop has a little flap that can be pulled up (as sen in the photo) that supports and holds your laptop, preventing it from slipping down. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro, which is heavier and thicker than the current Retina Macbook Pro, and it just about fits (lucky me !). This stand is perfect for the Mac series of 15" laptops. It will work with any laptop but remember there will be excess room on smaller laptops and large plastic windows laptops may hang off on the sides. The cooling fans are a nice touch. I have only used them for a day and are USB powered, and do an adequate job of cooling your laptop. But if your like me, like any other Mac user you already have a case on so the cooling effect won't really be felt by the Macbook Pro. But hey, it's a nice free feature to have. Overall. I am quite pleased with this laptop stand, as it allows me to use my Macbook whilst in bed, recovering from this surgery. Thanks Lavolta !

Useful tool - not just for laptops
This is a very clever, useful solution as long as you have time to actually test different settings. After having this table for six months and not using it (six control knobs with 360 degrees each put me off this long) I decided to just try different table arrangements. Looking back I don't regret I spend over an hour on working this product out because once I chose the two settings that work best for me, I keep using them. When I don't need the table I put it back to flat position so it does not take much space at all.Neither of three laptops (Toshiba x 2, Lenovo) I ever placed on this table oveheated.I now also use it to read very heavy books - I found a particular setting for that purpose.

Brilliant item for those with neck problems
I have had two operations on my neck and experience chronic pain and difficulty bending my neck to use my tablet or read books and also have difficulty holding books or my tablet up to the level where I wouldn't have to bend my neck- again because of the chronic pain issues- this item has been a lifesaver - I can now comfortably sit in bed and read even hardback books and use my tablet - it is light, easy to use and easy to move around and bends into many different ways s that you can find the most comfortable one for your position or needs. I would recommend this to anybody who has neck problems or difficulty holding things, I only wish I had discovered it when my Dad was around- he had Motor Neurone Disease and couldn't hold his kindle to read- this would have been fantastic for him.

Yes - but - no, sorry but no.
Still getting used to my laptop being at an unusual height but certainly during the hot weather it and i appreciate this little stand. Could be sturdier though - one side of the legs is a bit wobbly - using it with 13" MacBook.Update: Sept 2017After a few months of use I am struggling to enjoy this. It now 'wobbles' on a flat desk even on a low setting making typing on the laptop annoying. If I could I'd swap it for a more sturdy product. The fan is useful in the summer and a little loud but not OTT. It simply isn't sturdy enough and wasn't that cheap either. Disappointed.

Excellent if you're using a laptop as a desktop on a regular basis
When I work at various clients I invariably don't get provided with a monitor. Rather than lug one around with me I use this, plus a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. It's a pretty light affair, a bit bigger than my 15 inch MacBook Pro, but small enough to slot into my Jeep rucksack. It takes a few moments to set up and usually causes a bit of a stir the first couple of times it appears. What's really nice is that while it can be tucked down to "desk height", if you fancy standing up or using it to power a presentation in front of people it will rise up quite a way.Other than that it's pretty sturdy and if you do need to use the inbuilt fans to keep things cool they're reasonably quiet.Oh, and when you're walking through the office and people ask you what it is just tell them it's a hoverboard.

Perfect for 15' and under, don't try with 17'
I used this with a 13' ultrabook as well as a 17' gaming laptop and after a few months of daily use it's still going strong. One caveat is that the cooler can't really handle a 17' laptop even if said laptop sits comfortable on the desk. It cooled the ultrabook well enough (exceptionally I would say given that said ultrabook would become impossible to hold in my lap with a fair pair of cotton pants on). However it did nothing for the 17'.I tried it with a couple of 15' laptops belonging to friends with mixed results: one had a vent placed lower and the cooler did well enough to catch the underside with one fan and the hot air from the vent with the other (which wasn't fully covered). The other had nothing therefore the cooling didn't quite match the first. And at last, another issue with the 17' laptop was that the table became quite wobbly under its weight. Nothing gave in but I probably won't use it with the 17' again as there's no gain (no stability, no cooling).
