He wanted to be able to adjust the volume on the headphones and also I needed the volume on the television turned right down. It was difficult to find these specific things but our son found these on Amazon. They are excellent and do precisely what we wanted - so I can go to sleep without the noise of the tv, while my husband can happily continue listening to his programmes. The headphones are sturdy and the charging is easy. Had a little difficulty in finding the correct connection to the tv and had to plug into the sky box. This means that if he wants to watch a dvd we have to move the plug to another outlet. ### ⭐ Very disappointing *by P***C on 1 March 2017* This item just didn't live up to expectations. Although it seems well made, the instructions are simplistic and leave things out - like why doesn't the light on the transmitter turn to blue during setup when there is no audio input. One is supposed to pull off the left foam cap GENTLY to expose the battery chamber. In fact this was so tight that I was worried that I was doing something wrong. Having eventually inserted the batteries, I then had a difficult task getting the cap back on. It took me a good ten minutes to realise that the holes in the cap were being covered by the 'skirt; of the foam covering and therefore wouldn't fit over the mating lugs. Not only that, there seemed to be a correct orientation which isn't pointed out in the instructions. The next problem was that there was an annoying echo on the left side which moved to the right if I reversed the headset. To add to my dismay, when I walked out of the room the sound became distorted and by the time I got upstairs it had stopped altogether. So much for the advertised reception distance.
