After a few weeks of use gums stop bleeding. Used loads of different products with none or temporarily effect. My mouth and teeth feels cleaner after this past use. It certainly is salty but doesn't cause gagging and has a strong peppermint flavour too, which helps. My husband makes his own tooth powder and I find that far too salty. This is a happy medium for me - good for my teeth and gums, balances pH in my mouth, and palatable. It is a metal tube, which seems to be holding up fine at the moment (no holes) and I like the aesthetic and reduced plastic used (cap is still plastic). I was worried about it being too expensive, but I think you get what you pay for and this is a quality product. Also, I use less of it on each brushing as you don't need as much as usual toothpaste.
