Great for small baked bread etc. - The internal dimensions for this are 21.5cm square at the top, and 19.5cm square at the bottom. It is effectively 16cm deep, not including the slightly raised lid. The lid itself has a tab to remove it at each corner, and is easy to get on and off. There is also a raised area at the bottom, the purpose of which eludes me. This feels nice and sturdy, especially with the lid on. The carry handle falls to the side when not in use, and while I do not use it, it is actually nice to have. I bought this to be a bread bin for my 400g home made loaves, and there is plenty of room spare once a loaf is inside. A nice size for a one person home that is short or tight on space; for whatever you wish to store, not just bread. While the lid snaps into place easily, easier than some. I have not had any issues with keeping my small loaves fresh during their 3 to 4 day stay in the container. Like all such plastics, this has proved very easy to clean and dry. The lid needs just a little extra time to run the cloth around the recess for the seal, but that is no issue with a cloth and could air dry if needed after a brisk shake. I am delighted with this purchase, and think the Β£7.99 for a 6litre size lidded box with handle a good buy. For instance, would you be worried about it coming off or breaking if you had to carry a full container of water?** A: The handle and whole container is pretty strong. I would say yes -you could carry a full load of water. But - it will pivot or swing a bit so you would need the lid to be fitted on tight (which is easy to do ) if you do not want it to spill. The only weakness is if it is carried in a camping holdall (when emty) it is vulnerable to getting sqaushed from the side. In such a situation the handle connection becomes a focus of the side pressure. I know this because 1st order arrived in plastic bag ,& got squashed in post. It split the box at the handle pivot connection. Replacement was ok because of good Packing in a cardboard box with handles loose. Handles are designed to un-unclip very well + fit inside. This is best method when in transit in a vehicle or in post. Highly recommended product **Q: is the container lid hinged?** A: No, it is a separate lid. **Q: will this hold 2.5kl soap powder** A: It's a 6L container so should hold 2.5 ltrs of washing powder. **Q: Is it airtight? And will it hold at least 5kg of rice?** A: No not airtight - not to my mind anyway. You’d be better to get a 9 litre β€˜Lock n Lock’ container.
