## Questions & Answers

**Q: What are other users' experience of another cat pushing the feeding cat out of the way when lid opens?**
A: There is an 'intruder' mode that gets around this problem too, but it isn't mentioned in the instruction book for some reason! Our older cat was pushing in beside our kitten but because he was still there it stayed open, but in intruder mode the lid will close if it detects any microchips/RFID tags that it is not programmed to accept. The cats soon learned that they will only get food if the right cat is there on their own! This also works if they lean over from the back as it also detects the tags and closes.

1. Please put the Slide Switch into position II (Slide Switch setting II).
2. Press the Fn and the ‘Add Pet’ buttons together until the red LED illuminates (approx. 10 seconds)
3. Press the Fn button repeatedly until the LED shows orange (not flashing).*
4. Once the LED shows orange, press the Open / Close button to select Intruder Custom Mode.

*If you go past Orange keep pressing Fn to cycle through all the Custom Modes until the correct Custom Mode is reached again.

Please note – if you do not complete the steps above in time, the unit will time out and return to normal operation after 60 seconds.

**Q: Hello I'm interested on buying this feeder but I have some questions about it. The dimensions of the bowl are enough to put the food for one day? Wha**
A: Hi, we haven't tried to use it yet but I would agree with the previous answer that it's enough for the whole day for dry food. The wet food will not keep fresh the whole day unless you use a bowl separated into two sections (it comes with the feeder as well) and use one section for dry food and another for one portion of wet food.

**Q: My cat is scared of the noise this makes so not using it ideas please**
A: We have two cats. One is very nervous, the other is greedy. They are fed primarily on dry food supplemented by cooked meats and raw minced steak etc with access to dry food 24/7.

We first bought our feeder two years ago to stop the greedy cat from over-eating but unfortunately the nervous cat which doesn't over-eat was terrified of the feeder, so after a couple of months without any success of the nervous cat feeding from it we gave up and the feeder went back in the box and remained there for another year.

We had planned to have two feeders so that we could control the greedy one's food intake without punishing the other but that relied upon the nervous one getting used to feeding from it which he simply didn't. To make matters worse the greedy one was in there feeding from first day .

A year later we again attempted to get the nervous one to use the feeder but with the same result so after another wasted two months of trying back it went in the box again.

My other half had been in charge of using the feeder on both previous occasions and she followed all the advice.
This past week or so, not to be beaten I decided to have one last attempt myself to get him to feed from it but to start off again this time I let the greedy one feed from it while the nervous one was observing to show him it was safe.
After several feedings that way, I put some of the nervous one's favourite food in the with the lid left open and encouraged him to eat from it, which he eventually did with a little coaxing.

I must point out that unlike my other half, I didn't follow the advice about the incremental opening stages etc as that had scared him more than when it fully opened or closed.

After a couple of days of confident feeding from the tray with the lid open, I placed the feeder with the nervous one's favourite minced steak away from the greedy cat with the lid closed and let the nervous one explore it at his own pace. Low and behold after a day it worked and went on in leaps and bounds from there.

My other half couldn't believe it could be done and was convinced he'd never feed from it. Within the space of just a few days I'd now got him going to the feeder expecting to be fed with his favourite treat and for the feeder to open and close without scaring him. At first he was still easily spooked when it was opening and closing but now he hardly ever flinches when it moves.

I also started to add a little of his dry food alongside his favourite treat and he's started to eat that too so I expect in another couple of weeks that he will view it as his feeding station and I should then be able to lock out the greedy one completely and buy him a separate feeder of his own so that I control his feeding habits separately.

The best way is not to try too hard with regard to getting the cat to feed from it as cats can pick up on stress and frustration which makes matter worse. Just let them explore it at their own pace.

Be patient and it should be fine but don't expect overnight miracles.

**Q: Hi. My cat 'laps' her wet food, and pushes the food to the back of the bowl until it spill out the back. Will that ruin the mechanism?**
A: No you should be fine. I have 2 of these and clean them every day due both my cats being a bit messy. The mechanism is very reliable so as long as you don’t get them wet when you clean you should have no problems. You can also put a little tissue at the end to stop any food pieces getting in the flap hinge area.
