It provides insight into the math of a multitude of different financial cornerstones, but also goes into building your relationship with money and the values you hold. Each section has a foundational lesson, a relatable story of people of various backgrounds relevant to the chapter's topic, a myth busting section, then an exercise for you to apply your new lessons to. The book is well laid out and also graphically pleasing which is always a nice bonus. Some of the core elements covered are about making sure you know finances are personal and should be adapted to your life, dealing with debt, employment beyond just a salary, housing (buying & renting), retirement plans, & investing in general. The exercises in each section are well thought out and vary across different formats to keep them interesting. There would be value in returning to them months or years after getting started. In the back of the book, they did a great job of listing valuable resources such as other book recommendations, websites, apps, and even podcasts to continue your finance journey even further after you get started. They list a multitude of studies and publications that they referenced throughout the book which is good if you want to dive in deeper. There is also a thorough index in the back, so if you need a refresher on a certain topic, you can quickly find exactly what page to refer to. Overall, definitely would recommend to someone looking to start their journey into personal finance. This is the 3rd book I've read from these authors. Personally paid for two and felt they were worth every dollar. Gratefully for this one, I was provided with an advance copy by the publisher after recommending the authors' other books so often in finance groups.
