They are stainless steel and rust resistant but will rust if abused. The dome is nice and light but also thin and will dent and bend if dropped so be careful of that. They work great for other foods than burgers, have used the dome for sautéing onions and peppers, steaming brats, and a few other things. Dome can easily steam two burgers at a time or one bun top and bottom.
