1 year review of battery charger
I am an extremely satisfied customer and would recommend this charger to anyone. I purchased this battery charger about 1 year ago, and have waited until now to post a review because I did not want to mislead anyone. I can safely say this is one of the best products available on the market.PROS:Accurate power displayVersatile charging settingsCompact design for easier storage and relocation solutionsLarge low gauge wiring for both the charger leads and electrical outlet plugHigh volume twin ventilation fans and heat dissipating fins on bodyCONS:Battery clamping jaws may be too large for some applicationsSomewhat hard to understand automatic charging logicNo cranking assistWorking in a dealership, the shop provided chargers were completely unreliable and had no advanced charging functions. All it took was one failed charger mid programming, and I ended up spending 3-4 hours to fix a job that ended up paying 0.6 hours. I then decided that was enough and I needed to buy a heavy duty charger of my own. I wanted something compact that could fit in my tool box drawer for security reasons, and to make sure nobody would use it when I wasn't around. I also needed something with flash program functions to keep the voltage steady. This charger answered every need of mine and more. I am not sure who is the real manufacturer of this charger, but I have seen it rebranded under OTC and other automotive specific tool brands. It also uses a very similar charger function interface as the roll around Snapon EEBC500 unit, which is what drew me to this charger. But this charger's main advantage is the flash programming mode which allows the user to set the voltage from 13.0V and higher and the charger will automatically adjust amperage to suit, from 0 to as much as 70 amps. The large fans keep this unit cool which will aid in it's life and the low gauge wiring appears very strong and will hold up. There are sometimes the jaws will not fit on the battery itself and can only be used on the jump start terminals, so depending on different vehicles this may be an issue but it has not been for me as nearly all of the vehicles in the brand I work for have jump start terminals. It is likely possible to switch out the jaws anyhow. One odd thing is the automatic charging function which sometimes I don't understand. I am not sure if it uses the battery's internal resistance or is aiming for 12.6 volts 15.0 volts or what the case is, however I am confident it will not overcharge and "cook" a battery if left alone for hours. Overall I am very happy with this purchase, it is a tool that I feel is reliable and will last a long time as I use it almost everyday. Many technicians in the shop I work ask where I got the charger from as they can see by the build and functions this is a high quality product. Amazon has the most competitive price I found around and the purchase went smooth.

Awesome build quality and performance
I bought this so I could do software and programming updates on my F150. It has performed flawlessly so far! It is extremely well made, not like the plasticky consumer grade models. The fans sound like they’re high quality and they kick on as necessary.

Fits the bill for vehicle coding, but it's also an awesome charger
I got this primarily to do some coding on my BMW. I am an enthusiast, not a professional, so it was a bit of a splurge (though if you think in money saved by not going to dealer, I still came out *way* ahead.) Anyway, it worked very well for that. You can actually monitor the amperage draw which I found rather neat. But I found another way that I can get a return on investment with this and it is properly charging/recovering batteries for longer life. I had a previous "Die Hard" smart charger and it was fine for simple charging if you are patient. But, I have a few motorcycles and even on maintainers, I've had battery issues from not always riding them very often. I had a rather expensive Odyssey battery that had seemed to of "died". Wouldn't take a charge on the smart charger, wouldn't hold a charger after jumping the bike, yet it really wasn't that old as far as that type of battery is concerned.I threw it on this bad boy and listened to the fan go up and down as the machine did all kinds of cycles for hours. I assumed this was the desulfation program or something. But, the battery seems to be happy again though we'll see if it continues to hold out. That right there saved me from chucking a 2-year old Odyssey battery and replacing it with another though which is more money saved. I might just get in the routine of regularly hooking this up to my more sedentary vehicles to make sure they keep a good charge and healthy condition.

Power Supply for Flash
I bought this charger mainly for vehicle's module flash. I am doing every day as my job in car dealership. Like it because it provides stable voltage right at the time depressing the Start button on the charger regardless the battery state-of-charge. My dealership has factory made charger available, but it needs time to recharge before being able to provide supply voltage for flash when the battery in vehicle state-of-charge going low. Otherwise, this charger doing recharge faster then other products I used to use.

* WARNING * Do not buy this POS
This is a very busy BMW repair shop that on average sees 30-40 cars a day. I do all of the diagnostics and programming and I heavily relied on this equipment to perform. This looked like the perfect solution for my needs.I had issues within a few months of purchase where it would start clicking and shut itself off. I contacted Schumacher support a few times while it was still under warranty and was given various reasons, such as, not a proper connection with the battery, dirty battery clamps, dirty fan and so on. After having it shut down in the middle of a programming session I stopped using it. Having other chargers available left this one of to the side until I could ship it in for repair. Finally got around to calling Schumacher this am to get info on sending it in for repair. I knew it was out of the 1 year warranty, it's a year and half old, and I was directed to call Century Tool as they handle all repairs on that unit. Called Century Tool and was told that they have no parts available for that unit and that they do not repair that model. I called Schumacher support back and spoke with the same person that helped me 10 minutes earlier. When I told her what Century Tool said she confirmed to me that parts and or repairs were not available, period! If you are OK with paying this much money for a throw away, hmu I got one for sale.

First showed up DOA, but second worked like a champion!
Purchased to use for programming/coding newer BMW's.First unit that arrived would shut off as soon as you put a load on it, then would take about a minute to reboot. Returned to Amazon.Second unit arrived has been working great. Did a 24hr programming session the other day and it did not skip a beat.
