Portable Spike Light is manufactured from a rugged die-cast construction combined with a state-of-the-art powder coat finish, ensuring maximum weather ability and optimal scratch resistance. Ideal for general outdoor lighting in wet, damp, or dry locations. Equipped with a locking swivel knuckle assuring positive lamp positioning and providing pin-point directional aiming. Review: What's not to love. - When I bought my first outdoor lights, many years ago, they were nice metal things that had a rubber gasket that fit tightly against the bulb to keep water out of the socket. Over the years I have added more outdoor lighting to my landscaping, only to discover that the only thing available was now made from plastic. Not only was it plastic, but it's designed is a cone shape that catches, holds, and actually funnels water directly into the light socket, causing the bulbs (which are expensive) to corrode and short out the entire lighting system. I have checked with every hardware and lighting store in town. All they carry anymore are those horrible plastic things....and they cost more than my metal one, too. I was about to give up my search when I found these babies! They are made from a heavy duty metal that will last forever AND they have the tight gasket around the bulb. I ordered two the first time, because I wasn't sure what the quality of these lights would be, because they are so reasonably priced... I was thrilled, and promptly used the two new lights to replace two that had corroded the bulbs so badly that I couldn't even get the bulbs out of the socket anymore. I just placed an order for three more, just to keep them on hand in case I decide to add more outdoor lighting around the pool this spring. As long as Hubbell continues to sell these wonderful outdoor lights, I will never waste another penny on those poorly designed plastic monsters, and my bulbs will last three times longer now, too! Other than the fact the the cord is really really short, limiting the arrangement possibilities of multiple lights in the same area, these lights are sturdy and designed to protect the working part of the expensive flood and spot light bulbs. What's not to love?

**Q: Does it come with a rubber boot to protect water coming into socket?**
A: It comes with a rubber piece around the top where the bulb goes. It works very well for us. We have a sensitive GFI on that circuit and it used to trip every time it rained. Have not had a problem since we put this one out there in April.

**Q: What kind of bulb did you buy for this unit?  I'm assume at this price it does not come with one.**
A: My CFLs would not work with this fixture.  Their base is just too wide to fit the socket/seal without damaging the bulbs. Now I am using TCP LBR301050KND6 LED BR30 - 65 Watt Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Flood Light Bulb - 6 Pack and am having no problems.  I have these pointed straight up into the trees I want to illuminate. No leaks, no blow outs, no shorts. I have about 10 of these and am getting ready to order another ten.  The lamp bulbs I mentioned above are on Amazon Smile at just under $10 a pop with free shipping, about twice the price of the CFLs I was using and wasting.  I've gone through a couple of hundred dollars experimenting to finally find the answer...hope you don't have to.

**Q: Can you use an E26 bulb in this fixture?**
A: Yes, E26 is the common North American base. You can use  A19, A15, A21 G30, G25, G16.5 PAR16, PAR20, PAR30, PAR38 BR20, BR30, BR40. I use PAR38 in my portable spike.

**Q: Can I use an incandescent bulb?  I want to use it under tented plants to keep them from freezing.**
A: Yes, an incandescent bulb can be used. Be careful of closeness to objects the heat may affect.
