Despite having to request a replacement on this item because it arrived bent, I'm incredibly happy with the final product. The black finish on the map is high gloss while to gold material on the countries prior to scratching is matte in texture. As you scratch away the matte cover, it reveals a set of stunning watercolor-like colors. The map is also the perfect size for a standard frame!Overall, the quality of this map is outstanding and it looks fantastic hanging up in the house! It puts a sense of adventure in you to see where you should travel next. I wanted to be creative and so I transformed it into a head board. The only thing I don't like are the islands are all jumbled really close together so it's hard to see and learn the countries. I got the largest one because I thought I wouldn't have that problem. It isn't a deal breaker for me and I still love it. I advise that if you don't go the picture frame route like me, when you unroll it, roll it the opposite way and stick it back into the canister or lay heavy books then gorilla glueonto the surface.
