It works well for my aluminum road bike except that you have to hold the stand down with your foot so it won't slide away from the bike as you are entering the stand. The spring is very strong and the stand is light so that it will slide away as the wheel pushes against it. That's a very small price to pay for a nice, light small bike stand. Once the bike it will hold the bike up.
