Anyway, for a lot of people, the word synthesizer envokes visions of big filter cutoff knobs, envelope generators, and importantly, big fat-sounding voltage-controlled oscillators. These are the hallmarks of East Coast-style synthesis. East Beast is a fresh take on these old-school concepts with a few beastly twists thrown in here and there. Oh and by the way, we almost forgot to mention, if you are into the whole eurorack thing, you can pop East Beast out of its included enclosure and it transforms right into a 40HP eurorack module. Cre8audio should’ve called it Optimus Beast! Review: This Beast is a Pig - So this thing is a pig. After a couple of weeks i'm chucking in the towel. It's flaky. Makes a wonderful noise when it finally stops sulking and decides to connect. Doesn't do that very often. Clunky MIDI connector (No USB) From the manual.... Nothing. Other stuff works. This thing doesn't. Nowhere in the manual that I've found does it tell you the EB is designated UM-1 as a midi device. The manual doesn't even call itself a manual. Instead it's a "Gibbon Pamphlet." Hilarious. What we have here is something that's been released into the world without proper testing. I've unplugged it and put it back in its box to be returned. The feeling of relief is palpable. This piece of techno-wretchedness has eaten hours of my life. Pittsburgh Audio deserve better.
