We love doing puzzles and the jigsaw puzzle by itself was fun to do. The murder mystery part was fun to solve and the jigsaw played an important part in that. We really enjoyed this! It was a new experience not to have tons of papers, pictures, and documents to go through to solve a case! This makes this an advanced puzzle for people familiar with solving them, not a casual puzzle for people who like murder mysteries.The instructions tell you to throw away the "extra" pieces with the center blacked out, but I would recommend saving them since they fit in the six missing piece spaces and will keep you from wondering if there is an actual missing piece until you solve it, and since they are blacked out it will not ruin the mystery.This puzzle is focused mostly on the puzzle, and you can solve the mystery without it, but saving the mystery till the end adds to the fun.In the future I would recommend that these puzzles be made with a reference image that is similar to the finished puzzle but not exactly like it to avoid giving away the mystery, like the Ravensburger escape puzzles which feature puzzles with key elements that are transformed or left off, like text and surprise elements.Overall it was fun but with a couple key flaws.
