    works as advertised

I live in a wild mountain setting with natural vegetation (tall grasses, bushes, trees) that makes it hard to locate the cats even when they are just 30ft away. If they aren't moving then I can't hear the bells on their collars so this is just what I needed to locate.Other reviewers think the receivers are too large or can't attach to a standard collar, but the size is fine for our 7 and 10lb cats, and a diagram on the box shows how to attach to a collar without the need to thread the collar clasp through the receiver opening. To avoid frustration, replace the battery in the remote with one of the spare batteries before you use it. The batteries on the receivers are protected from draining prior to first use via plastic tabs (that you remove), but the remote doesn't have this tab. I'm sure the thought was the remote doesn't use much power unless a button is pushed (whereas the receivers are always ON), but it still has a little microprocessor that apparently had drained the battery that was installed prior to shipping. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. As a bonus, the cat that is most stubborn about coming inside is a bit afraid of the beeping, and now always comes running to the door whenever I press the remote. The other cat is oblivious to the beeping.

Works, but incredibly poorly designed making it almost unusable.

With three cats found under the hood of my car five years ago, I purchased the "3 receiver" deluxe package to help me locate them when they "disappear" either under furniture of over the fence. The "Cat Caller" is among the lowest priced pet tracking units out there, and works as advertised, but has a number of serious design flaws that probably would of prevented me from buying the unit had I known.Yes, the CC works. Three cat-shaped receivers and a paw-shaped transmitter with four buttons (the 4th being "Call all"). Pressing each color button makes each coinciding colored receiver emit 5 "loud" beeps and a tiny flashing blue light out one "eye" on the cat-face-shaped receiver. In optimal conditions, you should hear the high-pitched beep just fine, and you might even see the tiny light in the dark (such as under the bed or furniture). The range seems to be decent enough. About 100' feet or so. I suspect it may reach further, but at that distance, you're not going to hear the tiny beep unless it is perfectly quiet. Which brings me to its flaws:First, and most glaring, the receivers mount to your cats' collar using a solid metal buckle with the receiver in the center and a narrow slot on each side. The ONLY collars that this would work with are thin, scratchy leather collars with NO metal buckles, beading or hoops to get in the way. Most nylon collars use large plastic buckles that won't fit through the slots on the receivers. Thick plastic flea collars would bulge around the back and press into your poor kitty's neck, so forget about those too. I didn't realize this when I bought my unit, having purchased three matching nylon collars before I discovered this. Unable to feed the nylon collars I purchased through the receiver mounts because of the plastic buckles, I spent days trying to figure out how to mount them to a comfortable collar in a comfortable manner. I eventually figured out to feed a 3" piece of copper phone wire through the back of the collar and wrap the ends through the slots to hold them to the collars. If I need to change the batteries, the face of the receiver pops off if you unscrew the back, allowing you to remove the electronics (a single-piece unit) and slip in a fresh battery. Fortunately, battery life seems to last despite the fact the receivers are technically "on" 24/7.Second, the receivers are in the shape of a cats' face. Cute, but the pointy ears are sure to poke your poor kitty in the neck if not situated just right. A definite design flaw. Note to the manufacturer: consider a smooth round receiver with cat-face imprinted on the surface.Third, in only quiet conditions will you be able to hear the beeping. Even in my tiny apartment with the TV off and no outside sound, I had to listen closely to hear the beep in the next room. It is good that it's not so loud as to frighten your kitty, but forget about finding them if they make their way into the bushes outside unless you are already within just a few feet.Fourth... and not entirely the manufacturer's fault... if your cat can reach the receiver with their mouth, they are probably going to lick/bite/gnaw on it either because either it catches their attention, is poking them or simply because it's uncomfortable. The receivers have tiny holes for the "whiskers" to let out the sound of the beeps, but if your cats gets the unit in their mouth, their saliva will get into the unit and corrode the battery. This happened with one of my kitties. I removed the unit (once I finally found her) when it didn't beep when I tried to locate her. Thinking the battery was dead, I opened it up to find it full of cat-spit and battery rust. Took out the electronics, washed off the plastic, scrubbed the corrosion off the electronics with WD40 and a toothbrush, put in a fresh battery (CC comes with THREE replacement batteries! Nice.) and everything worked again. I made sure to tighten up the collar so she couldn't get it in her mouth again. The "Cat Caller" does work, and is one of the best priced units around, but it wasn't designed with different collars in mind, is audible only in the best of conditions, and can even be injurious to your poor kitty if the plastic pointy ears stick them in the neck. Nice item, but the manufacturer need to release a new version that addresses these issues before I'd recommend it to a friend.

    Hear kitty

Our cat is deaf so calling is a waste of time. She has seizures so has to be given meds twice a day. This one works and if she's not lying on the unit we can hear it and find her. The flashing light aids too when she's in a Dark place. The only downsides It's not waterproof - cat falls into the water feature = unit is shot.(bought three twice) Eats batteries - Buy additional spares. Works as advertised Most others do not.
