Now for the technical stuff that most folks want to know: yes, it comes compressed and does start fluffing up as soon as you release the bag. It's good to have your sacks in the ready after you open the bag. Yes, it is a little messy - but I just had the sacks open like leaf bags and poured the foam into them; it wasn't too bad, actually - just a quick vacuum when done. At first there was only a minimal odor - I know folks always ask about that - but I could smell almost nothing; and what I could was actually pleasant. I decided to leave the filled sacks in a spare room to allow them to fully inflate. After leaving the sacks in the closed room for a few hours, that is when I detected the odor. It still wasn't overpowering or offensive for me, but I know some would have found it 'chemically'. I then left the door open to the room until the odor was almost gone - that took about 3 days. I then had to go out of town so I did not put the new sacks in my dogs' beds until almost 2 weeks later. Their beds are in my bedroom, and I have not detected any odor.
