## Description

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY 100% NATURAL SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE TO PEAT MOSS Convenient Small Bricks Great for Potted Plants or Container Gardens. Coir (also called Pith) is a 100-percent natural product from coconut husks. Coir is made of the coarse fibers extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. Because of its superior water holding capacity, excellent air space and drainage, coir is a useful soil amendment for potted plants, containers and gardens. Coir is a sustainable alternative to peat moss - it does not produce the same environmental damage caused by peat mining. In addition, coir is easier to hydrate and lasts longer in soil than peat moss. Triumph Plant coir is conditioned for a neutral pH and low salt content. Lab testing yielded a pH of 6.3, salt (as sodium chloride) of 1,875 ppm, and electrical conductivity of 0.23 mS/cm. These measurements may vary some from brick to brick. Coir efficiently releases nutrients to plant roots and reduces the need to use dolomite lime in the garden. In sandy soils, coir helps keep nutrients and moisture close to plant roots instead of washing away. In clay soils, coir helps break up hard-packed earth, allowing the movement of nutrients and moisture through the soil. Combining 1 part coir to 2 parts soil or potting mix containing compost, makes a superior growing medium for potted plants, outdoor garden or raised bed. Coir comes compressed as bricks, which makes for easy storage. To prepare a brick, add 4-5 quarts of water and soak for 10 minutes; then fluff it up, and it is ready to use. The final volume of the expanded coir will depend upon the amount of water used to hydrate it. By maintaining a consistent level of moisture and air and by being naturally disease and weed free, coir creates a perfect environment for starting seeds and cuttings. Coir is also popular in worm farming.

## Features

- COCONUT PITH IS A NATURAL AND SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE TO PEAT MOSS - Coconut fiber pith is manufactured without causing environmental damage (such as is caused by peat mining) because it is made from the easily renewable source of coconut fine husk fibers
- TRIUMPH PLANT COCO PITH BRICKS are odorless, free of bacteria and most fungal spores, low in natural salts, and contains no weeds or pesticides
- COCONUT COIR IS A VERSATILE GROWING MEDIUM - Can be used for both indoor and outdoor plants and are great for greenhouses, landscaping, garden beds, individual pots, vertical gardens, grow bags, terrariums, or for starting seeds or roots in a pot or planter
- GREAT FOR POTTED PLANTS OR CONTAINER GARDENS - Use along with potting soil to create a nutrient rich environment for your plants and provide a healthy source of aeration and drainage
- COCO COIR IS EASY TO USE Simply soak in water to expand then mix with potting soil. Bricks range from 8 ounces to 13 ounces each and 10 ounces on average. Each brick holds 4 to 5 quarts of water, or 8 to 10 times its volume in water. Typical use is 2 parts soil to 1 part coir. A little goes a long way!

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really liked this product

*by C***O on September 15, 2016*

I really liked this product . The brick broke down pretty easily once introduced to hot water. I mixed the Coir Fiber with perlite and vermiculite. Great price on coco coir. Material is compressed densely in layers so you can pry it apart with a flat screwdriver in layers or chunks instead of cutting the block into portions as some recommend. Material easily absorbed water and worked great as a soil amendment and lining for bottom of pots. My plant took to it without skipping a beat. FYI breaking down the bricks can turn onto a mess. The drainage is great helps prevent over watering. These fibers are not long enough to use as an air pot lining. Also, keep in mind that coco coir retains retains salts fairly well, so you may need to flush if you frequently

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Triumph Plant Coco Coir Bricks

This stuff is great! I mixed it with the soil where I planted my seedling tomato and pepper plants. It makes the dirt almost pack resistant and lets the water absorb easily and rapidly. The plants are doing really well in this mixture of one cup coir to three cups potting soil.It does expand as they say, and you can watch it grow! I'll buy it again, when I need more.

### ⭐⭐ Disappointed: -(

*by K***K on April 26, 2017*

Received this today and followed the directions to "reconstitute" the block. 50 oz of water and 6 hours later, all I have are hard chunks of coconut coir. I have even tried to shred it with my hands, but it is nowhere near ready to use as worm bedding. Disappointed:-(
