At end of trip, I was only one who escaped leach bite, so it is really good. Only negative is it reaches till midthigh only, there is a tightening mechanism plus a thread, but as you walk or climb, it loosens, so had to hold on to it and pullnit up frequently.... They are nice and long and properly waterproof. Protect you from leeches very effectively but not from ticks or other biting insects that climb much faster than leeches. Needed to use extra length of string on each sock to prevent it from sliding down but that's to be expected on long walks.
