I purchased this for a night sky classroom activity with 3 year olds and it is nice and bright, even in lighted areas. It will only be used once in a while, so i can't speak to the durability. One important thing to note- if using as a projector, DO NOT LEAVE THE TOP ON! (I was almost super disappointed until I realized that) The top mutes the projection to use as a night light. The only issue is the cord; it's a bit short so you have to be near an outlet.
