The one on my unit was mounted with a strap and two screws. Size, in this case, shouln't matter. **Q: Does anybody know how often this item should be replaced or will last (life) under normal household use?** A: The unit states that it is rated at 60,000 hours or about 7 years of continuous use. I suspect that this is somewhat conservative, but the previous comment of 5-10 years is consistent. I don't know if it means anything, but the previous capacitor was in use for about 6 years and fell out of tolerance to 6.3 uF.
