The quality is amazing. For an everyday beater you cannot beat this knife and it will amaze you and I bet you all I'll have to do is just hone it to keep the edge. It has an AUS-8 edge Japanese steel. Just like 440 USA high carbon stainless steel. Next to American it's almost the same. But, it is way above Chinese which is the 8CR MOV whatever. A: It's made in Twain

**Q: Country of origin?**
A: It's not made in the USA. The class a and some of the class b knives are made in the USA. The divergent is a class d knife and is made in Taiwan

**Q: Why don't they make it with decent steel?**
A: for less than USD 30; I think this an outstanding value. AUS-8 is kinda like 440C in the USA. Higher grades of steel will cost alot more.
