These gigantic cocoa-dusted chocolate-covered almonds are irresistible! Piedras, which is the Spanish word for "stones", are toasted Largueta almonds dipped in chocolate and dusted with cocoa powder. They are crunchy and flavorful without being overly sweet. The original creator of this Spanish confection was Luis Echeto Jr., a native of the Canary Islands. Luis used the King of Almonds - the largueta variety - to create his "stones". Extra large, long and flat, the Larguetas are covered in sugar, coated with chocolate and finally dusted in cocoa powder. Bite through the luxurious melt-in your-mouth chocolate coating to get to the fresh, crunchy flavor of the superior Spanish almond inside. Very addictive!

There were only 17 almonds in container. That’s $.35 for each almond. They are delicious, but they are way overpriced.

These almonds are indeed a delicacy, a treat. They are absolutely delicious.  Pricey?  A bit.  But gee - you get what you pay for.  These are special confections and should be treated as such!
