**Q: “wr 500 won’t shut off with this cdi any ideas? wiring diagram? ”**
A: The black ground wire came out of the connector plug.  Other wires came loose when I went back into the e-box to check.

**Q: Can I use or modify this to work on a 1989 Yamaha wave runner 500?**
A: i used it on a 91 WR 500. Just connect the the colored wires to match yours.
