Use the direct method for foods that take less than 25 minutes to cook: steaks, chops, kabobs, vegetables, and the like. If you are cooking alot of food you may have to add charcoal. Thank you for your inquiry. **Q: We got this but our apartments don't allow charcoal grills. Any other type of grill is fine, just not charcoal. Can we convert this at all?** A: Nope. It's basically an aluminum bowl with holes in the bottom and in the cover.
