I was a little concerned about the Hasidic viewpoint that I thought would be presented, but R. Shechter-Shalomi is truly inspired.  There's no fundamentalist bent in the writing and his explanation of the four levels of prayer using the four worlds of Kabbalah, made Kabbalah more understandable! --not just prayer.  This is a wonderful dive into Jewish prayer, from basic meditation to valuing and using the Siddur.  (I took his suggestion and read the Siddur page by page and I have a whole new respect for the term Divine inspiration.)  The book has illumined my daily personal prayer as well as communal Sabbath services.  You owe it to yourself to read this book.  It may change your whole outlook on Jewish prayer.
