To make matters worse, the mouthpiece has a metal mesh which is held together with PLASTIC! i.e. your boiling hot water will come pouring through plastic. How stupid is that? **Q: What country made this item?** A: In addition to the other answers regarding how misleading this is, it also brings to light that the 'Report incorrect product information' link does not work on this item and also appears to be 'void' on a sample of other items I have looked at. Amazon got in some trouble just last year with deceptive advertising and appears to not have a mechanism to address it. Yes, this item would cost more if it were domestic. Regardless, consumers should have a clear indication of origin in the description and details to make an informed purchasing decision. **Q: Is the spout plastic or stainless steel?, as i dont want boiling water to come in contact with plastic** A: I’m not sure why some folks have replied that the plastic spout is β€œsafe”. Recently, study after study have warned that no plastic is β€œsafe” to come into contact with food, particularly boiling water. And that includes β€œBPA free” plastics. Study after study have shown that our bodies are being polluted by micro plastics. This kettle is NOT SAFE for precisely that reason, BPA-free or not. It is so easy to set the temperature control too and our coffees are perfect each time. The kettle can hold nearly two litres of water and doesn't have a flip top lid but we find if we put in the water we actually need, it heats to the required temperature very quickly.We love the different colours at the base which light up when we set our favoured temperature.
