This one was the only one which registered exactly the same as the mercury "gold standard"! I ordered a second one for my Mom. It is slim, flexible, fast and accurate, and she can easily read the numbers and hear the audible beeping when the temperature has registered. It is also waterproof and has lots of features. The manufacturer also provides a nice two-piece snap together molded clear plastic case which protects it and keeps it sanitary. Also provided are 30 free probe covers. I highly recommend this thermometer. ### ⭐ defective out of the package *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2018* Hi, this thermometer did NOT work right out of the package. I followed the instructions to a T and used it. The first reading seemed hypothermic so I did it again and got a lower reading....yeah don't buy this. ### ⭐ Inaccurate thermometers read too low *by P***T on Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2017* I bought 5 of these thermometers when they were at an insanely low price (less than a buck) only because I was shopping for disposable thermometer probe covers and these came with 30 each. I ended getting 150 probe covers for much less than it would have cost to buy the covers themselves.5-stars for the probe covers, which work better than the current best seller on Amazon. The plastic tears nicely after placing the cover and they are really easy to put on. They work perfectly with my old Vicks digital thermometer.1-star for the actual thermometers, all 5 of which are inaccurate. I verified this by conducting an experiment. Although they are not meant for measuring liquids, I used a reliable instant-read cooking thermometer to bring a mug of water to exactly 100 degrees. I measured the temperature of the water using my Vicks thermometer with and without a probe cover and it was accurate within 0.2 degrees and repeatable. I used each of the White Coat thermometers and found with the probe covers, they were on average 1.8-2.2 degrees too low compared to both the cooking thermometer and the Vicks thermometer. Without the covers, they were better but still 0.7-1.1 degrees too low. There was inter-thermometer variability with the range between the high and low thermometers of 0.4 degrees. Besides being inaccurate, the thermometers are imprecise with inter-reading variability with the same thermometer of up to 0.4 degrees between consecutive readings.The manufacturer and seller can claim they are not designed to measure water. All you have to do is use them on yourself and you'll see measurements that are too low. This is unacceptable and can be the difference between deciding to take a baby to the hospital for an evaluation or deciding to medicate at home.I bought 5 of these, so it's not a one thermometer problem. I suppose I could have gotten an entire batch that was defective.
