The ophthalmologist told me it was a migraine, but gave me no advice about what to do for it - and once I had the first one, I was having them several times a week at least. Thankfully, no headaches, but it is really hard to do much work if you are seeing an electrical sign in part of your visual field. These glasses not only prevent my ocular migraines, but clear them up within 10-15 minutes once they start. They are miraculous and much preferred by me over the Excedrin Migraine solution an optimetrist later recommended given how often I have them (I am learning to wear the glasses all day, but frequently remember to put them on only after the problem occurs).
