In my experience, one of those knives with extendible / retractable snap off blades, works really well. Use with blade fully extended and you will get a good depth of cut. As soon as blade starts getting blunt swap to a new knife or blade. Should cut very cleanly and can run along a metal straight edge for neat line. I suspect this will work better and cleaner than hot knife. I have done a lot of this in the past - just my opinion. **Q: It says it can be used to cut 'plastic material'. Has anybody tried it with Perspex?** A: I think perspex might be too dense. I can imagine it clagging the blade up with melted plastic and smoking like crazy, but I haven’t tried it.
